I got this because my macbook is my second laptop and, after 4 years with my first one, I was frightened by the amount of gunk that got inside my computer through the keyboard. It also made typing harder.
This will not only solve that, but I love the texture. It snugly settles into place and can be removed in a second. You can even see the caps lock light through this thick material.
Maybe I'm a slow typer, but I didn't sense any slow down with this. It does cushion your typing a bit though, but i like that.

This product is exactly what you think it would be: a thin piece of rubberish material between you and the macbook keyboard.
Pros: It really works: you'll start seeing things (dust, eyebrows, food crumbs) on the black material that you would never have noticed. The fit is perfect, a little weird at first but once it heats up it seems to take shape just right.
Cons: It will definately slow down the action on the keyboard. This will only be annoying if you're a speed typer.

| Do not buy for new macbooks |
|
The symbols on the Function keys do not match! The brightness, volume, and other special functions keys do not match between the keyboard and the iSkin on the new macbooks! If you never use these keys it should not be a problem. Otherwise a good fit and looks great.

| Great Product - but annoying |
|
PROS: You really see all the gunk that could get into your keys. It looks stylish - people have really noticed it around the office
CONS: It does slow down your typing a lot and it feels really weird.
Also, it doesn't fit new Macbook's. This fact should be HIGHLIGHTED IN CAPS or BOLD because it's easy to miss in the description under "technical" (really, I feel that it's not a "technical" issue and "Does Not Fit New Macbooks" should be in the title).
Bottom line: A must have if you have a Mac purchased before Nov 2007.

The iSkin Protouch serves the purpose of keeping the keyboard clean and free of debris, but it is not perfectly matched to the 13 inch MacBook. Most of the function keys are labeled incorrectly. Only the screen brightness and disk eject keys are correct.
