    Reviews

    Best Macbook Hardcase!!
    Pros
-Stylish, the red is a killer color. Matches my blackberry =)
-Apple logo still visible thru the case.
    -feels incredible just like satin.
-Great protection. I use this and a sleeve. Yes it's thin in enough to still fit in sleeves

    Cons
-incredibly difficult to install and remove. More difficult to remove though. I get scared every time i remove it that it will snap. It holds onto my mac by these tin tabs, that are difficult to pry off

-does collect dust and grimy fingerprints. But i wipe mine down daily so it's not a big deal

-may actually scratch your macbook if not cleaned regularly. If your pretty active with your macbook i suggest taking it off every 2 weeks to remove particles that get caught in between the speck case and your macbook because friction can cause those particles to scratch your computer which has happened to people before. but i had mine for a month and i cleaned it today and my mac is still looks as pristine as it did when i unboxed it.

    Red Delicious (though slightly bulky)
I got the red case and couldn't be happier with the results. The case fits like a glove, has a nice soft feel, and gives my computer a unique and vibrant color. The plastic feels very sturdy, and thus far I have had no problems with any breaking or cracking even though I've taken the case off multiple times for cleaning. I also haven't had any problems with the case scratching my Macbook--instead, my Macbook is still entirely scratch-free. Installation is incredibly quick and easy and I had my case attached in less than a minute. Removal is slightly trickier at first, but now I have no problems at all.

There are some minor flaws, however. I've noticed that the case does add a little bit of bulk to my laptop. It makes it slightly thicker and about a pound heavier. Still, I have found that I can live with these minor trade-offs after considering the scratch protection and distinct look that I get from the case. I really have gotten used to the extra bulk and now it doesn't bother me at all.

The other flaw is that the case does show greasy fingerprints and smudges. While that itself isn't a big issue, the matte finish of the case makes it almost impossible to remove those marks without taking the case off and washing with a little soap and water. Another easy thing to do would be to use a gentle cleaner like iKlear or Pledge Multi-Surface (which is cheaper). You can't just rub hand prints away with your sleeve, however the extra grippiness and pleasant soft feel of the matte finish more than makes up for it (at least for me).

As an unexpected treat, I have found that using this case actually makes my daily typing experience with my Macbook more pleasant, since the slight lip that the Speck case adds significantly softens the rather sharp angle on the front lip of the Macbook. When I don't have the Speck case on, I find myself pulling my sleeves down to protect my wrists from the sharp edge of my Macbook (which, let's face it, is just a few shaves away from being able to thinly slice ham).

UPDATE: After taking my Speck case off, I have noticed that the keyboard feels a little more responsive (i.e., more "clicky") and so does the trackpad. It's a very subtle difference, but certainly something worth noting. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the plastic making the computer thicker, thus making the "clickiness" (meaning not just the click sound itself, but the responsive feeling from pressing down) seem just a little bit duller. Obviously, this doesn't affect the way that the computer functions at all, but I thought it might be a good idea to let people know that there is a very slight difference in feeling.

At this point, I'm carrying my Macbook in a padded case (even around the house) just because I prefer the visceral experience of typing on my "naked" Macbook. I'm quite picky, though, so I doubt most people would even notice the difference. For travel, I will definitely be protecting my computer with the Speck case, as well as when I want to decorate my Macbook with a bit of color.
    Poor Quality
I bought this product about a week ago. I was so excited for it that I had it next day air delivered to my house. Upon arrival, I put the cover on with ease. Over a period of use, I realized that when I would close my macbook, the top piece would kind of show the bottom off. It would make an annoying clicking noise when I would transport the device. I am very glad that I kept all of the packaging so I can RMA the item
Detailed review from an electronic OCD guy........
Let me start off this review by saying that im a huge fan of Speck products, I even have them on my facebook lol. Now, I manage and operate an apple accessory store that bring in all the big name brands like speck, incase, belkin, etc for everything from macbooks to ipods. So I have fiddled with pretty much every accessory out there for apple products. Also I am EXTREMELY OCD about the condition of my stuff. The smallest scratch is enough to set me off. So for this review i'll talk about protection, style, ease of access, and use with a combination of accessories with this case.

    Protection:

Now I have and will never drop my macbook, and with this case on it would help if I ever did, but would probably still do some damage to the macbook. But for scratches, this case will definitely help avoid them. But like any hard case out there whether it be for the macbook or an iphone, you need to periodically take off the case and wipe it down because dust will get in there. With this in mind, I take the case off every other week and give it a good wipe down with some iClear wipes, and my macbook is about 7 months old now and still looks like its brand new.

    Style:

I purchased and use the see thru satin Black on my aluminum macbook with lighted keys. It looks great, the black compliments the black keys and aluminum body very well. It is also like a flat black color, if I had to compare it to something it would be Rob Dyrdek flat black truck on his show rob and big on MTV. Its not a glossy black, but more a flat black that stands out a little less since its not so shiny. When turned on, the apple logo on the top case is really dimmed, and almost has a purplish color to it. It kinda makes your macbook incognito, so not everyone knows that your using a mac, which I like because its less likely to attract the wrong attention. Also when the macbook is off, you wont be able to see the apple logo at all, so to the unknowing person it'll look like a Toshiba or something.

    Ease of access:

All ports are accessible with the case on. In theory, you should never need to take off the case, but you really should to wipe down any dust that gets in there. Putting on the case is extremely easy as it just snaps into place. Taking it off is a little trickier, I usually pop off the clips of one side by pressing it down, then slide the case off.

Combination of accessories with this case:

Like I stated earlier, im really OCD about the condition of my stuff, and my macbook is no exception. I have this speck case on it, I also keep it in either a incase neoprene sleeve or a hemp applesac sleeve. The fit is great and still fits in either sleeve with the case on, but since it has a satin finish to it, it kinda grips on to the sides while you slide it in. Just takes that extra precious second to get it in there. This issue is not existent with the see thru speck cases w.out the satin finish which will just slide right it.

I also have a "best skins ever" clear film protector on the wristpads of the macbook so I dont scratch it up when typing with my watch on. The speck case fit right over it and the clips did not push or mess up the skin, it just slid right over it. If you do this though, I would advise letting that skin set on there overnight so its all dried up, then carefully clipping on the speck case, there is some room to get the clips over the skin, but it is a tight fit and if you just press it on there it might ruin the skin.

So all in all I am extremely happy with this case. I recommend it to all my customers and I use speck products on all my ipods, iphone, and macbook. I truly like them more then Belkin or any of the top name brands.

Also note, I ordered a case for an older ipod from specks site, they charged my card then figured out that the case was all sold out. Speck then refunded my purchase, sent me a big apology letter, and a 50% coupon. The case I purchased was under $20, and I used the 50% coupon on a messenger bag that was selling for $99 on their site.

Ive also had other times ive had to contact their customer support for various small reasons, and they've always been very kind and helpful. They really value their customers and re-sellers, and always provide exceptional customer service. Thats another reason I love speck.
    I like it.
I just received my Speck SeeThru Satin. LOVE the color! So far I like the product. It went on easily and I took it off to see how hard it would be and it seemed to be removed easy too. It does add a little bulk to the computer but not like I thought it would. I bought the product to protect my MacBook while I take it to and from school and it seems like it will fit the bill. Over all I really like the product and would recommend to anyone who wants to protect the MacBook.
