| Simple Design - Works Great |
| I chose this wireless keyboard & mouse combination based almost entirely on it's design. It's quite simple and maybe even elegant.
If you're anything like me, you're looking for a simple wireless keyboard that doesn't have 34 extra buttons (that you'll never use) across the top and down both sides of the keyboard. This was crucial for me. I wanted a simple keyboard that I could grab from either side or the top and not worry about inadvertently hitting a button that would suspend my computer, start Media Player or any of the 34 other functions that many keyboard buttons provide.
So the design met my needs, for the most part.
The installation was absolutely painless! I was surprised when I saw that there was no installation CD in the box. At first I thought it was missing, but then I read the instructions and couldn't believe how easy the installation was:
1.) Insert the batteries.
2.) Slide the ON/OFF switch on the mouse to ON.
3.) Plug the USB dongle in.
That's it! No software. No drivers.
The keyboard is surprisingly heavy, but this may not be a bad thing. In a world where most things are made of cheap, flimsy plastic; this keyboard feels surprisingly well made and solid.
The keys are similar, but not exactly like a laptop. The keys are shallower than a standard keyboard, but not quite as shallow as a laptop keyboard. Unlike a laptop keyboard where there is no feedback when you press the keys, this wireless keyboard actually has a slight "click" when the keys are pressed.
There are two aspects of this combo that I'm not very happy with. The backspace key is the size of a standard key. As you know a normal backspace key on a standard keyboard is twice the size of a normal key. I hope I can get used to it and train my pinky to find the small backspace key accurately without looking.
The mouse is not exactly perfect. It's not a bad mouse, the design is quite nice and it's well made too. There are two "thumb" buttons on the side of the mouse that functions as back and forward buttons while browsing web pages. Since there is no software for this combo, I don't believe the button's functions can be changed or disabled. I don't intend to use them and they don't get in the way. The problem with this mouse is that it is a little bit too small length-wise. The width and height are comfortable, but my palm does not rest comfortably on the mouse. Perhaps I have larger hands and just favor a larger mouse.
I'm using this combo on my media center PC in my main TV viewing room. I sit approximately 8' away from my PC and I'm not having any range issues. I haven't noticed any lag or delays while typing. I played World of Warcraft with it for a couple of hours and had no problems.
If the backspace key and the mouse were a little larger, I could have easily given this 5 stars. Considering the price, you just can't go wrong with this.
Thanks for reading my review. I hope I was able to help with your purchase decision.

| The connection has good range. I place my htpc behind the tv and cabinet and some boxes. I always get good connection.
| | Great Distance, If that's what you neeed...THIS IS THE ONE. |
| Solid Keyboard and Mouse.
On of switch to save battery power for mouse is crucial.
A tad small for my hands, but I am a giant.
The distance is whats good about this one. If you need to go more than 10 feet, this is the one for you. There are definately other better combos for short distance. However, this model was able to do 25 feet through a wall, without a skip. I also live on the third floor. So I had my gf go with it down to the first floor...and put the laptop in the far corner of the apartment. Guess what. It still worked flawlessly.
If you need a keyboard and mouse for a media center...this is the one...if u sit far away from ur computer or hook it to a tv and browse the web from bed....this is the one..
For the price...47.99 shipped...I can't be more happy...both a logitech and microsoft RF model failed for my application with direct line of sight to the receiver...and this one works through the wall...
Highly recommended.
Also i should note...the finish is a piano black...which looks slick as hell.
| | I purchased this for use with my laptop as a HTPC. I wanted a combo keyboard/mouse combo with great range and a 5 button mouse. This thing delivers! GREAT range...works flawlessly at 20 ft from TV. Both mouse and keyboard have a nice heft and seem well made. About the only negatives are no caps/num lock lights on the keyboard and an on off switch on the mouse. The mouse does seem to power down a bit if not used for a minute or so (the optical sensor starts flashing/pulsing on the underside). Minor negatives and not enough to lower rating from 5 stars. Hey, they even include alkaline batteries (albeit off brand).
| | I purchased this keyboard for the Mac hack I'm building mainly because I couldn't afford the Apple equivalent. I really like the way this keyboard/mouse combination looks and I'm very happy with its performance.
I was cautious about buying this product since there is very little out there in the way of reviews but I'm glad I took a chance. True there is no caps lock indicator light but for me that is such a minor feature that I did not factor it into my rating. I like the way the mouse feels in my hand as well and the tracking wheel works fine. For around $50 you get a pretty nice set up.
I originally purchased this from Amazon and when I received it I discovered from the box that it also comes in white which was actually the color I was looking for to begin with but couldn't find a keyboard in white that I liked. Sent this back to Amazon and would have exchanged it for white but they do not offer it so had to go with another vendor for about the same price just no Super Saver shipping. I've been using it for a couple of months now and all in all I'm a very happy owner!
